Bottom Pool. Full of proper lumps!

Bottom Pool. Full of proper lumps!

Tunnel Barn Farm is the Midlands Premier fishery offering day tickets for pleasure fisherman and daily competitions for Match fisherman. They also hold corporate events throughout the year.

The venue has been open to public for over 17 years and stocks tens of thousand's of fish including many varieties of carp, chub, tench, bream, roach, perch etc.

The complex consists of eight pools ranging in size and style, giving you over 200 pegs to choose from. Each peg has been designed to give anglers something to fish to. There are a number of designated disabled pegs and for those that require assistance reaching their pegs a member of staff is always on hand.

There is a fully stocked tackle shop on site which caters for all your fishing and bait requirements. There is also an excellent café and clubhouse providing breakfast and food throughout the day which can, if required, be delivered to you at your peg. Advice on how to fish the complex is always available from the resident expert, Fish O Mania 2008 finalist Pete Rice.

Tunnel Barn is one of the fairest venues around, and as such has attracted big matches such as Fish O Mania qualifiers, Van Den Eyne Clubman semi finals, Maver Pairs qualifiers, Angling Times Winter League to name a few.

They also hold their own Winter League which is attended by some of the top anglers in the Midlands including England internationals. This league is extremely popular and sells out within weeks of the dates being announced.

House Pool. A great mixture of fish of all sizes.

House Pool. A great mixture of fish of all sizes.

The eight pools are as follows:

New pool - 44 pegs:
Also known as the snake pool due to the shape, there are a number of islands to fish to. The average depth around the pool is 6ft. The pool is well stocked with F1 and F2 Carp, Chub, Tench, roach, perch and Bream and is one of the main match pools. The current 5 hour match record came from peg 13, of 272.12lb. There are lots of F1’s to be caught on pellet or meat. The fish move well in the margins and on the surface. In the warmer weather big weights are expected up to 200lb. The hot pegs are 1,7,10,17,33,39 & 44.

Extension pool - 39 pegs:
There are 2 islands to fish to going down the centre of the pool. The depth varies from 2.5ft to 8ft in places. Good weights come from this lake with the highest being between 150lb to 200lb. F1’s in this pool tend to be averaging 1.5lb.

House pool - 34 pegs:
There are islands all round this pool. The depth is approximately 5ft to 6ft deep. The margins are good for carp, bream and tench. F1 carp, roach perch and bream can all be caught at 6mtrs. The fish will come up in the water when the weather improves and gets warmer. Feeder to the island using dead maggot is a good way to catch big carp

Top pool -  33 pegs
There are a number of islands to fish to in this pool including a sunken one! The bowl area is good for big carp, with the hot pegs being either 1 or 33. The depth of the pool varies from 3ft to 6ft. There are lots of silver fish and F1’s at 4mtrs and in the margins. Corn and pellet tend to be the best baits.

Bottom pool  - 29 pegs
This is the oldest pool at Tunnel Barn, dug over 20 years ago. There are 3 islands going down the centre of the pool and the depth varies from 2ft to 7ft. There are a lot of double figure fish in this pool as well as a good stock of tench, perch, bream, silver fish, common, crucian and mirror carp. The best baits tend to be pellet, corn and meat.

Canal pool - 24 pegs
This pool has an island all the way down the middle of it at 12mtrs with a depth of between 6ft to 7ft.

The margins produce good bags of fish to corn. F1’s, F2’s tench and bream can all be caught at 4mtrs and against the island, with roach mainly going for maggot.

Club pool – 24 pegs
Again this pool has an island all the way down the middle and a depth of between 5ft to 7ft. There are some big bream and tench in this pool. Each peg is capable of producing lots of F1’s, F2’s roach and bream. Fishing at lengths of 4mtrs, 6mtrs and to the island generally produce the best results. The best baits tend to be corn, pellet and bread.
